Contact and Records Routing

This site is a private reference guide, not a government office. It cannot confirm a person’s custody or release, post bond, obtain an official record, or act for a reader. The contacts below identify the government office that can answer a specific Pontotoc County records question.

For current custody, a jail-docket request, bond question, court case, or official photo request, contact the responsible government office directly. This guide cannot access a jail system, release anyone, or supply an official confirmation.

County Custody and Booking Records

For a person who may be in county custody, begin with the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office. Research found no verified online roster, public booking feed, dedicated records email, request form, fixed fee, confirmed detention street address, or records-unit hours. Call before visiting or mailing a request, ask for the jail-docket records custodian, and request the office’s preferred delivery method.

Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office. P.O. Box 240, Pontotoc, MS 38863. Main custody and records starting point: 662-489-3915. Sheriff: Leo Mask. A fax number is published in statewide directories, but sources conflict, so confirm before using it.

A written request can identify the person, date range, arresting agency if known, and the jail docket or booking record sought. Mississippi’s public-record process permits actual-cost fees; the county’s amount, format, and timing must be confirmed with the custodian.

City Police and Incident Reports

A city police report and a county booking record may be different files. Ask the arresting department for the incident or arrest report it created, then ask the sheriff where the person was booked and how to request the jail docket.

  • Pontotoc Police Department: 225 W. Reynolds St., Pontotoc, MS 38863, 662-489-7804. Research found no city arrest log, routine booking-photo page, fixed records fee, or stated turnaround.
  • Ecru Police Department / Town of Ecru: P.O. Box 526, Ecru, MS 38841-0526, 662-489-3881. Confirm the records custodian and booking destination; no city form or online log was verified.
  • Algoma Police Department: no current official municipal records contact or online log was verified. Start with the sheriff at 662-489-3915 and ask which agency owns the report.

Bond, Warrants, and Court Files

For a court-side question, use the office that keeps the case record. Pontotoc Justice Court handles county criminal matters, bonds, warrants, and preliminary hearings. The Circuit Clerk maintains circuit and county court dockets and case papers. Neither an old article nor a public wanted notice confirms current warrant status.

  • Justice Court clerk: 171 Highway 15 North, Pontotoc, MS 38863, 662-489-3921.
  • Pontotoc County Circuit Clerk: 11 E. Washington Street, Pontotoc, MS 38863, 662-489-3908 or 662-509-3700. Listed hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Statewide wanted notices and tips: use Mississippi’s Most Wanted or the DPS Crime Stoppers channel. Do not approach a wanted person.

State, Federal, and Immigration Custody

The county sheriff is the correct starting point for a local booking. A different locator applies after custody changes. The MDOC Inmate Search covers state custody or supervision, not a new county intake. MDOC public-record requests are written requests through its official process; telephone requests are not accepted for that purpose.

The BOP Inmate Locator is for federal custody. The ICE Online Detainee Locator has separate identity and custody limits. A record’s absence from any one of these tools does not by itself establish that no arrest or transfer occurred.
